🌷 Lily and the Moon Garden
Lily loved her grandma's garden. In the daytime it buzzed with bees and bright yellow sunflowers. But one evening, Grandma said, "Tonight, I'll show you a secret."
They put on their slippers and tiptoed outside. The air was cool and smelled sweet. Fireflies blinked like tiny lanterns.
"Watch," whispered Grandma, pointing to a vine of tightly closed white buds.
Slowly, slowly, as the moon rose, one bud began to open. Then another. Then another! Big white flowers unfolded like little moons of their own.
"Moonflowers," said Grandma. "They sleep all day and wake up at night to say hello to the moon."
Lily watched with wide eyes. "So when I go to sleep, they're awake, keeping the garden company?"
"That's right," said Grandma. "The garden is never lonely."
Back inside, Lily snuggled under her quilt. She imagined the moonflowers glowing softly, the fireflies dancing, and the moon smiling down on them all.
"Goodnight, moonflowers," she whispered. And as Lily's eyes closed, the moonflowers swayed gently, as if to say, "Goodnight, Lily." 🌸
